Monday Run

After a very lazy weekend with Keith, I actually made it into the gym again today--hooray!

Miles: 4
Pace: 10 minutes/mile

I felt pretty good during the whole run, and especially in the last 10 minutes or so. It probably helped that I was reading a magazine and covered up the time and miles so didn't keep looking at it and thinking "I still have this long to go??!"

A good nap would feel so awesome right now! :)

Only about 83 days left until the half marathon!!

Thursday Run

Miles: 3.15
Pace: 9:40 minutes/mile

I didn't feel very great during my run today. It could have been a lot worse--at least I didn't have to stop--but my left Achille's tendon was feeling real tight throughout the entire run. I need to work on stretching it out more often and doing some heel raises so I can help prevent shin splints. If I get too lazy, I'll end up with overuse injuries, which would not be good.

Other than that little nagging bit, I had a pretty good day. I felt good enough to up my pace a little, and I followed up my run with some strength training, which I have been greatly slacking on lately. I had a "rest" day on Wednesday and used it as a cross-training day on the elliptical machine where I caught up with Martha Stewart and also ran into Lisa and chatted. :)

Today is Friday, another rest day, and I actually am going to use it as a rest. I have a meeting at school for my practicum at 11am and just didn't feel like getting up early enough to hit the gym. Keith is also here for the weekend and we are going to a Wolves hockey game tonight.

I better get ready for my meeting today! I'll check back in tomorrow!

Back in Chicago now and getting back to the gym. My training program is going to start picking up a little at the end of the week, which will be nice. I need to add some new music to my iPod...any suggestions???

Monday Run...posted on Thursday :)

Pretty normal run on Monday:

Miles: 3
Pace: 10 minutes/mile

I ran into Lisa at the gym today and we had a nice chat for about 10-15 minutes. I hadn't seen or talked to her in weeks, so it was good to catch up a little. We will definitely have to plan some shopping trips, er, I mean walking trips, when I come back to Chicago (as I am currently in the UP right now).

I fully intended on hitting the gym again on Tuesday, but Monday afternoon I got a phone call from IBJI where I worked as a rehab tech over the fall, and they asked if I could fill in Tuesday morning. So I worked from 7am-1pm on Tuesday and headed up to the UP directly after work.

It feels great to be home! However, the weather doesn't really allow for running (and there is ice everywhere!). Yesterday I hit the treadmill in the basement for a nice long power walk, which obviously isn't the same as a run, but better than nothing. I don't know if it's the treadmill or the basement air or just my mind playing tricks on me, but I cannot run on that stupid treatmill for the life of me. It feels about a zillion times more difficult than running on any other treadmill!

Anywho, I think I'm going to eat a slice of some leftover birthday cake (Keith is now 27!!!!! Yikes!) and start reading Breaking Dawn, the final book in the Twilight series. Pretty stoked about that. :)

Saturday Run

I finally hit the gym again today! It's so gorgeous outside today that I felt a little guilty not going for a run outdoors, but I am paying for this gym membership....

Miles: 3.1
Pace: 10 minutes/mile

According to the training program I am working off of, I am supposed to run a total of 6 miles this week, which I did (yay!). However, they have me starting out with 3 2-mile runs for the first few weeks, and I'm not that out of shape when it comes to running. So I kind of fudged it a little. I am going home (to the UP) on Tuesday, so I'm not sure how I will work that out. Maybe get a day pass at the PEIF or Y for a couple days, since I'm sure the weather won't be this nice all next week!

Like I mentioned in my last post, yesterday was my last day at my clinical! It feels so awesome to have that behind me, and I am really looking forward to these next few weeks off!

Well, I better get dressed and ready to head to Champaign to hang out with my HSLP! Can't wait for margaritas tonight!! :D

Lull

It's true, I have not run since Sunday! Bad me, I know!!! I have been both lazy and busy this week. I am finally done with my clinical! It is such a relief!

I will be back to the treadmill tomorrow before heading to Champaign for Margarita Mania with Chera, Andrea, and Gordon!

Sunday Run

Another pretty good run today. I watched some Food Network and listened to my iPod with my brand new headphones. As for the headphones, I am undecided if I like them or not. They are wrap-around ear buds, but I feel like they are too loose and keep wanting to slide off my ears. I hate having to monkey with my headphones the whole time!! But they are pink and super cute, sooo....I'll just have to try them a few more times.

Happy Super Bowl Sunday everyone! I'm rooting for the Cardinals today. Seeing as I don't really care about either team, I tend to root for the underdog. Unfortunately, Monday will be here sooner than I would like. :(

Saturday Miles

Short update on my mileage from yesterday:

Considering it was the first time I ran since last Sunday, it felt really good. I need to update my iPod with some new music to help motivate me, though. However, I did find Simply Irresistible on TV...a movie so bad it's good. Magic crabs! What's not to love?? So the movie helped with the boredom of the treadmill for the most part.
